Tony Teesdale

Anthony J. Teesdale is an attorney, entrepreneur, and community advocate, and the owner of Teesdale Law, based in Brookings, South Dakota. Known for his commitment to justice, individual liberties, and long-term solutions, Anthony primarily practices in criminal defense, family law, estate planning (including probate work), business organization, and real estate transactions, while also offering specialized representation to students in Title IX and disciplinary proceedings at South Dakota universities.

Anthony’s path to the legal profession reflects his dedication to service and personal growth. After growing up in New Jersey, Indiana, and Missouri, he attended the University of South Dakota, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor. In 2015, he began his legal career in Brookings and, by 2022, founded Teesdale Law to embody a client-centered approach rooted in compassion, advocacy, and systems-oriented representation.

Beyond the courtroom, Anthony’s influence extends throughout the Brookings community. As a firefighter with the Brookings Volunteer Fire Department, a mentor with the Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program, and a member of the Boys and Girls Club Brookings Advisory Council, where he also serves as a Teen Court Judge, Anthony is dedicated to supporting and strengthening his local community. He is also a founding member and Vice President of the Brookings Curling Club and an active member of the Brookings Optimist Club.

Anthony’s dedication to justice is reflected in his broader professional impact. A former President of the Brookings County Bar Association, Anthony is currently a Board Member for East River Legal Services, advocating for access to justice across South Dakota. Since 2021, Anthony has served as the Defense Attorney for the Brookings County Problem Solving Courts, where he provides direct legal support to participants navigating rehabilitative programs. Additionally, he serves as a defense representative on the Drug Court Advisory Council, contributing to policy development and oversight for problem-solving courts across the state.

Outside of his legal and community endeavors, Anthony is committed to personal discipline and growth, starting his days with 5 AM CrossFit workouts and participating in activities like curling and golf to maintain balance and focus.

Anthony and his wife, Alexandra, live in Brookings with their son and daughter. Rooted in their belief in the value of community, they are proud to be part of the thriving and supportive environment Brookings provides.
